Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Luḥaydān

Imām Ṣāliḥ ibn Muḥammad al-Luḥaydān (1350–1443 AH / 1932–2022 CE) was born in al-Bukayriyyah in the Qaṣīm region. He graduated from the College of Sharīʿah in Riyadh and, early in his career, worked as secretary and judicial assistant to the Grand Mufti Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm Āl al-Shaykh.

He served for many years within the judiciary, rising to head the Supreme Judicial Council, and was a member of the Council of Senior Scholars from its founding in 1391 AH (1971 CE). He taught in the Grand Mosque in Makkah, answered questions on the long-running radio programme Nūr ʿalā al-Darb, and was widely respected for the firmness and precision of his rulings. Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān described him as “a great scholar, among the most senior scholars of this land.”
